This print is beautiful. It's a commonly depicted subject, but it is very special. The composition, tonal quality, and movement are exceptional and evocative. The piece is true to it's title... breathtaking!

I have wanted this for my pro life bulletin board at my Catholic Church and I wasn’t disappointed. It is beautiful and it has so much meaning put in a picture. A picture speaks better then words and this picture says it all. Thanks

Crypt at Historic Oakland Cemetary Atlanta Georgia
1998
artist: Anita D. Livaditis
Oil Painting on Board
Painted on location at Historic Oakland Cemetary in downtown Atlanta Ga., Oakland Cemetery is where Margaret Mitchell who wrote Gone With the Wind is buried, among many other famous Atlantans. This mausoleum is located in the NE corner of the cemetery along Boulevard as it bends on the Cabbagetown side, about a block down from the Fulton Cotton Mill.
Historic Oakland Cemetery was my neighbour for many years when I lived in Cabbagetown. I used to load up my backpack and go and paint there as there were so many interesting monuments and wonderful views of Atlanta, the city I am from. This particular Crypt is styled like a miniature church. It reminded me of Van Gogh's Church at Auvers, which had no doors, only in this case there were doors, but, ironically, no exit. The intense blue sky I used here is reminiscent of that.

I love this beautiful Painting Anita! The colors you use are just brilliant. It is so nice to know the history too. I must go there one day. Margaret Mitchell is my favorite authors. I've seen Gone With The Wind 2 times. This is a very historic painting and you might want to send a copy to the historians in Atlanta, Georgia. They will be so impressed and who knows, want to purchase it! I wonder if there is a fan base of the movie. I bet there is. The newspapers and Magazines (The Atlanta) in Georgia could do a feature article on your wonderful art expressions that is delightful in many many ways! I could see this painting on the cover!!!!

Anita Dale Livaditis replied:
Thank you, Lenore. It's a cool little building made of stone. It attracted me right away - well, not enough to go inside :O ;) Thank you.
