The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back.   The wooden frame includes a hanging wire for easy mounting on your wall (see photo on the left).

The pioneers dragged their wagons up the crevice you can see in the foreground of this painting in the old days. The canyon, near Escalante, Utah, has since been flooded with water to create Lake Powell, but if you look down the crevice you can still see the old wagon wheel ruts. Amazing!
